There’s no need for an introduction for this legend. Everybody in India would have known him as the famous scooter in India. Honda Activa is simply famous as you don’t have to shift gears, no need to hold clutch in traffic, you just need to accelerate and brake the CVT will take care of the rest. With this Honda Activa became the best-selling motorcycle in the country and recently, celebrated their success of being the Only scooter brand in the history of Indian two-wheeler industry to achieve 2.5 crore customers mark. Let’s look how it all begun!
Honda Activa First Generation-2001
Honda Activa first generation was launched in 2001. It was powered by a 102cc engine producing 7HP and a peak torque of 8Nm. Paired to a CVT transmission which made hassle free gear shifts. The scooter was durable having a metal body.
Honda Activa Second Generation- 2009
The Honda Activa recieved it’s first upgrade on 2009, 8 years after the launch of the first generation. The second generation was the first to get Combi-braking system.
The engine was even powerful than the first gen with a 109.2cc 4-stroke engine producing 7.68HP and 8.79Nm of torque. HMSI also upgraded the instrument cluster, headlamps and tail lamps to compete with it’s rivals for years.
Honda Activa 3G – 2015
With the rising competition Honda had to update it’s motorcycle, as new scooters were coming in the market from HeroMotocorp, TVS and many. So HMSI came up with an update to the existing model and launched in 2015.
The scooter got tube-less tyres, a 109.2cc engine producing 8HP and 8.83Nm of torque, introduced with Honda’s Eco Technology (HET) which improves fuel efficiency.
The scooter also got better headlamps, softer seats, new colours and much more.
Honda Activa 4G – 2017
The scooter didn’t recieve any update as such in terms of design while the scooter reacieved an BS-IV update which changed the torque figures now making 9Nm of torque.
Honda Activa 5G & 6G – 2019
Honda updated the scooter in the 5G where the built quality of the scooter was improved and new colours were added in the line-up. It also got an revised headlamp featuring an LED DRL with an redesigned tail lamp.
In a short period of time the BS-VI update kicked in and the scooter was launched as Activa 6G with FI system, fuel lid was placed outside with lot’s of request from the customers, AGC technology was introduced where the scooter starts with no sound.
Honda Activa 125
This is the powerful Activa in the line-up. It get’s similar features that of Activa 6G while the scooter is powered by a 125cc engine producing 8.18HP and 10.3Nm of torque.
Honda Activa Achieved 2.5 Crore Customers In 20 Years!
Recently Honda Activa Become the First Indian Scooter to Achieve 2.5 Crore Customers Mark. Launched an special edition with new colour schemes to celebrate this big event.
